Excel: How do I skip 12 rows for each reference?
I have one spreadsheet called “Mortgage 1 Schedule.” It has monthly mortgage balances
I am creating a second spreadsheet that I would like to show only yearly mortgage balances.
In order to pull the mortgage balances only on Jan. 1 of each year, I would like to refer to the existing spreadsheet (with monthly balances) in a way that I can skip twelve rows each time.
I tried creating two cells with the following functions:
=OFFSET(‘Mortgage 1 Schedule’!$H24, 12, 0)
and
=OFFSET(‘Mortgage 1 Schedule’!$H24, 24, 0)
but could not get it to create an autofill pattern in increments of 12. It just repeats 12 and 24 again and again.
Very frustrating! What can I do? Thank you in advance!
copy&paste this
=OFFSET(‘Mortgage 1 Schedule’!$H24, ROW(A1)*12, 0)
filling down will use the row#
the row(a1) will be looking at row# of A1 (or just the number 1) and increase as you fill
then it just becomes a math problem
