Student Loan – 3 Sure Fire Tips on How To Deal With a Problematic Student Loan

Are you frustrated with collectors from the loan organization calling daily about a past due bill?  Would you like to know how to cancel your student loan forever?  What about removing a late loan payment from your credit report.  If these strategies are something you would like to know more about, then read on, and let me disclose these powerful tips.

Tip 1 – Can I defend myself against the collectors?

If a private collection agency is used to collect the debt, and the agency violates the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, you can sue them and use the money to pay off your debt. If you are sued, you can argue that you were eligible for a loan cancellation according to the student loan policies, but did not get it.

Tip 2 – Is there anyway I can cancel the loan?

The loan can be canceled if you are disabled and can’t work, in the military, teaching in a third world country, performing community service, working as a health care professional in needy populations, or working in law enforcement. Check with your loan provider for various options. You can also have your loan interest rates lowered if you consolidate your loans or set up an automatic debit for your payment. For more information on student loans, contact the Federal Student Aid Information Center at 1-800-433-3243 or visit them at www.nslds.ed.gov or the Direct Loan Servicing Center at 1-800-848-0979.

Tip 3- Can I remove a defaulted loan from my report?

If the student loan commission reported the delinquent account, the only way to remove it is to pay off the loan in full. You can then dispute it with the creditor bureau. The credit bureau will have to verify the information with the student loan commission. Since the commission has to administer so many loans, it is very possible that the commission may not verify with the credit bureau that your loan was ever in default.

Using these tips could be very rewarding if they apply to your personal situation.  Reread this article and make sure you understand the concepts before taking action.  Now that you are empowered with a little more education, go out there, and improve your financial life.

loan servicing center Questions

call osap.? plz help~~!!?

anyone knows who should i call if i have questions as to why my osap is soo low ( i have no other source of income, and unable to pay tuition fee ><)
the school?? or the National Student Loans Service Centre??
can someone plz reply.. i really need to talk to them about it to negotiate my osap funds.
thanks~

go to the financial aid office at your school. They should be able to tell you why your OSAP is so low.

these are the things that affect how much OSAP you get:
your marital status – single person or still living at home the max is $350 per week multiplied by the number of weeks in your program.
married or sole support parent, its $545 per week.

Things that will reduce your OSAP funding:
your prestudy income
your income while in school
your parents/spouses income
the value of any cars you own or lease
your savings
your RRSPs

OSAP starts by assessing your NEED – this is your tuition cost, books, and living — OSAP decides what your living expenses are — you don’t tell them what they are.
Then OSAP decides (based on the information you give) what your CONTRIBUTION to your education ought to be.
Then they subtract your contribution from your need and get your UNMET NEED. If your need is higher than the maximums, you get the max — $350/week or $545/week depending. If your need is less than the maximum, you get the lesser amount.

There are items that you can appeal, but you first need to know if something you put down on your app is causing you to not get what you expected. The best person to help with that is your financial aid officer at your school.

Is it possible to get an SBA guaranteed Loan from a bank if I had a discharged BK in 2005?

I am looking to open a business and looking for help from the Small business development center nearest to me to help me write a business plan. I had a Bankruptcy in 2005 that was discharged in early 2006. Is it possible to get an SBA back loan with a bank to help me start my business still? I would like to try and get an SBA 7A loan or brick and mortar loan to help me buy and build a self-service mechanic shop with about 7 bays and an office attached. It would be the only one of it’s kind in the city I live with over 300,000 people.

It’s possible. It will depend on what you have done to rebuild your credit after your bankruptcy.
